Dialysis Staff

Physicians

Each RAI Care Center has a physician Medical Director responsible for its oversight and management.

Every RAI patient will see their nephrologist regularly while in the dialysis center, usually once a month or more. During this time the doctor will talk with you and review your progress and needs as well as answer any questions you have.

Nursing Staff

Registered Nurses (RNs) oversee care of the patients at the RAI Care Centers. You will come to know your nurses as familiar and friendly faces who are aware of your individual situation.

The RN staff is supported by Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) or Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), and Patient Care Technicians. These members of our caregiver team provide your dialysis treatment while monitoring vital signs and administering medications and fluids needed during the process.

Dietitians

Balancing your intake of sodium, water and phosphorus (an electrolyte abundant in some foods) as well as consuming the right levels of protein and vitamins can make the difference in your overall health and how well you tolerate you dialysis treatment.

RAI dietitians are part of your treatment team, working with you as your eating coach, nutrition educator, and health information guide. They will help you learn to enjoy good food and proper nutrition in the same bite. Your dietitian will visit you frequently as you and your family learn this new information. They are always available to coach you and answer questions.

Social Worker

Starting and maintaining dialysis therapy is a major lifestyle change that will affect many areas of life for you and your family. RAI’s social workers can provide invaluable advice on making dialysis a manageable part of life.

They also give expert guidance on insurance, financial assistance programs and many other resources. RAI social workers are available to help you learn to manage day-to-day as well as in times of crisis.

Patients and Caregivers

Dialysis treatment is an equal partnership between patient and center caregivers. Your health will be at its best if you show up to each and every treatment session in a timely manner. You also need to follow your personal dietary plan and take the medications and supplements prescribed by your physician. Always keep medical and nursing staff informed about your health status or any other issues that could affect your care.
